Marriage preparation is intended to provide engaged couples with tools to assist in building a strong relationship for all of the years of their marriage, rather than focusing solely upon the wedding ceremony. To fulfill the high calling of loving and serving the Lord, within the context of marriage, we rely upon the support, counsel and prayers of our Christian community which is why, at your initial appointment with the pastors to discuss marriage, you will be asked to make a commitment to complete the following requirements prior to marriage:
- Pre-marital Counseling consisting of individual workbooks to be completed and four counselling sessions.
- Pre-marital counseling is to be completed at least 90 days before wedding date.
- Meet with the pastoral team to plan the order of the wedding service.
Planning Your Wedding
Because you are required to have your pre-marital counseling completed at least 90 days prior to your wedding date, it is advisable to plan your wedding a minimum of six months in advance. We would encourage you to plan at least six to 12 months in advance for availability of your preferred date. Prior to your initial meeting with the pastor, wedding date availability may be checked by calling the church office. During your appointment with the pastor, marriage preparation and church requirements will be discussed. You will also want to advise the pastor if you are requesting participation of another minister. Your wedding date will not be finalized on the church scheduling calendar until you have confirmed the date and time with the pastor at your initial meeting and advised the church office accordingly. The marriage ceremony is a sacred worship service which should be approached with reverence. Please keep this in mind as you make your plans.
Use of the Church
