A man has been found dead in Jerusalem’s Old City.
A woman, believed to be his wife, was stabbed in the head, authorities said.
Police said the victim was found by an emergency medical team and pronounced dead on the scene.
He was identified as an Israeli man in his 60s.
Jerusalem police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the man had been in the city’s Old District for more than two years, and was a member of a local religious community known as the Sheba.
He was killed in a “stabbing-related incident” and it is believed he was the victim’s wife, he said.
He said the incident was being treated as a murder investigation, and that no arrests had been made.
Police were alerted to the incident after receiving a call from the victim, Rosenfeld added.
A Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank last month after a Palestinian stabbed an Israeli soldier to death in the same area.
Two Palestinians were shot and killed by police in the southern Israeli city of Kiryat Arba on Thursday.
