Posted February 06, 2019 11:21:48 The United Church has released its annual general meeting results which show the church has grown from its first annual meeting in 2016 to its current membership of around 30,000.
The results for the past year are based on a survey of 4,500 people, a smaller number than at the 2016 meeting.
Christchurch’s first-ever general meeting was held in the Christchurch suburb of Taranaki on July 28, 2018.
The church’s next meeting will be held on April 19.
This year’s results are published online and the United church’s website will be updated throughout the weekend.
The United church has a membership of 1.9 million people, according to the latest figures available from the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC).
The United Methodist Church is the largest Protestant denomination in Australia, with over 300,000 members.
There are more than 60,000 churches in New Zealand, the United States, Canada, and South Africa.
The New Zealand church has recently welcomed the reopening of a church in Auckland and plans to open a church of New Zealand in Christchurch.
The Anglican Church in Australia (ACA) is the official body of Anglicanism and is the oldest and largest denomination in the Anglican Communion.
The Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) is a non-profit organisation that lobbies for religious freedom and social justice.
In its most recent financial results, the ACL reported a $3.9 billion operating profit.
It is currently in the process of renegotiating its contract with the federal government to receive $1.5 billion over the next five years.
In the last few years, the Australian Christian lobby has lobbied for legislation that would allow Christian organisations to refuse services to same-sex couples, and for a repeal of the death penalty.
This was an important issue for the church in the 2017 election, and the ACL was one of the parties that campaigned for the repeal of anti-discrimination laws.
