A special Christmas message from India’s Church of God in Christ (COGC), as well as a video message from Pope Francis, is being aired on BBC World Service.
The BBC World service will broadcast the special, titled, Christmas is Here, on Friday (local time) at 22:00 GMT.
The video message will be broadcast in English, French, German and Spanish.
The video message is based on a series of talks with a group of Christian leaders at the church’s headquarters in New Delhi.
It also features a Christian prayer for peace.
The COGC has been active in the country for over a century, and its followers believe that Christ’s death on Christmas Day is a sign that the world is on the path of Christ’s return.
According to a BBC World News article, the message from the Pope is titled, “Peace is coming.
The world needs to listen to us”.
It says, “Our message is simple: We believe in peace and justice.
We believe that peace is coming, and that the time for war has passed.”
The CogC is part of a network of more than 2,500 churches in India.
In India, the CogCs are a mainstay of Indian society.
It is not clear how many churches are active in India, but it is estimated that there are about 30,000 churches in the nation.
